Orthodontic
Summer Reminders
|
|
*Your retainer will not float!
If you wear it while swimming it could be lost. Dr. Becker
recommends leaving your retainer in the case while swimming at the pool,
beach or lake.
*Please do not leave your removable retainers in the
car. The temperature can reach high enough levels to warp the
acrylic in a short period of time.
*Be sure to pack your orthodontic supplies
(proxi-brush, floss threaders, rubber bands, wax, tweezers,
fingernail clippers) when going on vacation. Also, don't forget to
pack your ABO t-shirt. See "Traveling T's Adventure" article
for information so that you can earn Swipe 'n Smile points while on
vacation!
*It would be a good idea to print the "Comfort
Instructions" page of our website to send with your child to camp or
on vacation. Comfort instructions can be found by going to
angelabecker.com and clicking on "Owners Manual".

Traveling
T's Adventure
|
|
We would love it if you would send in a
photo of your child wearing their ABO t-shirt while on vacation.
Drop off or mail your 3"x5" photo with their
name and location where the photo was taken on the back of it. Adult
patients are encouraged to participate as well. We will be posting
the photos in our lobby from June through the end of August. You
will receive 10 Swipe 'n Smile points for your photo from June
through August. (This is double the amount of points
normally given for having your picture taken while wearing an ABO
t-shirt! ) Remember that you can send in two photos a year
to earn Swipe 'n Smile points, however, you will only receive the double
points for one photo this summer.

Mouth
Guards...Necessary Sports Gear
|
|
The wearing of a mouth guard of any kind
cannot prevent all injuries from occuring. However, in many cases
it may help reduce the degree of severity of injuries. It can take only a
matter of seconds for someone to suffer a sports injury to the face or
mouth. A recent survey from the American Association of
Orthodontists shows that two out of three parents say their child does
NOT wear a mouth guard. A good mouth guard will be comfortable and
thick enough to protect the teeth. Mouth guards can be purchased
from any sporting goods or retail store for a very inexpensive price and
can be easily custom fitted. Some mouth guards will need to be
re-fitted during orthodontic treatment as the alignment will change
as teeth move. Doctors say mouth guards should be worn for all
contact sports, such as football, hockey, soccer, wrestling, and basketball
as well as softball and baseball. We encourage all of our patients
who participate in these activities to wear a mouth guard.
